The Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association was founded in 1972 by James J. Pizzulli. His vision was to provide representation to those who had no representation and to bring dignity and respect to the everyday working man and woman.

Founder
The Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association assisted the New York City Hospital Police as well as the Bridge and Tunnel Officers in getting their Peace Officer status. Most recently, the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association fought and won the BID Districts in transitioning their Security Officers to Public Safety Officers.
We take pride in getting the Peace Officer bill passed under the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association flag. Presently, the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association is spearheading a campaign to pass new bills for training and handling psychiatric patients, as well as making it a felony if any of our Uniformed Officers are assaulted in the line of duty. We are continually advancing our methods and educating our members for the greater good and the community.
I pledge that the Special and Superior Officers Benevolent Association shall be the beacon of light for all those that seek to unite and follow the vision of its leadership in the labor movement. We will never be divided and shall always be true to our union.- James J. Pizzulli
